Where and what can I recycle?

All areas in unincorporated Hendry County are on a curbside recycling pickup schedule.

You no longer need to separate the material.  It can all go in the same container.

See the Recycle This / Do Not Recycle table below for the items you can recycle.

Below is the scheduled day for your pickup.  Please have your containers at curbside by 6 am.

Aluminum:
soda/beer cans, aluminum foil/pans

Glass: soda/beer/liquor/wine bottles, jelly/salsa & any clear/brown/green glass bottles/jars (rinse out)

Metal: soup/fruit/juice/pet food/tuna/vegetable cans, empty aerosol cans/dried empty paint cans

Paper: newspaper/magazines, brown/white/colored paper bags, phone books/junk mail/catalogs, office/computer paper/corrugated cardboard (moving/cereal/gift/pasta boxes)

Christmas Wrap/Gift Boxes (no ribbons please)

Plastic: containers marked #1 thru #7 (water/detergent/bleach/soda/shampoo bottles, milk jugs, butter/whipped topping tubs, #2 black nursery plant pots





Aluminum: 
pots/pans/cooking utensils/door screens/lawn furniture

Glass:  medicine bottles/dishes/drinking glasses/windows/mirrors/cookware (Pyrex or Corning)

Metal:  tools/car parts/license plates/cutlery

Paper:  shredded/packaging paper with wax layer (juice boxes or waxed cardboard)

Plastic: plastic bags, chemical/motor oil/antifreeze/household chemical waste containers/flower pots (except black #2)/medicine vials/egg cartons/polystyrene trays/newspaper sleeves/styrofoam

Most grocery stores have a recycling container to return plastic bags.
